The entire staff of M&E Productions LLC would like to extend their condolences to Miranda Shurer upon the death of her husband Retired Army Staff Sergeant Ronald Shurer II. Staff Sgt. Ronald Shurer was a man who during Operation Enduring Freedom was the medic for 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group. On April 6, 2008, his team encountered heavy enemy fire including machine gun, snipers, and rocket propelled grenades during the Battle of Shok Valley. Staff Sgt. Shurer saved several lives, then went on to see the men in forward positions were hurt. Under heavy fire, he risked his own life to save theirs on the mountain they were trapped upon. When he had finished with emergency procedures to save them, he noticed two more men needed help. He proceeded to help them as well. When the rescue helicopter finally arrived, he used his own body as a shield to help move these wounded men to the helicopter at the bottom of the mountain.
For his efforts, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on October 1, 2018 by President Donald J. Trump. He passed away May 14, 2020 due to lung cancer. He leaves behind a wife and two sons. We salute SSG Shurer for his honorable work while in military service and continued government service upon leaving the military. We share in Mrs. Shurer and their sons sadness at this time. While we cannot know the depths of their sadness, we can grieve with them. Thank you Staff Sergeant & Miranda Shurer and the boys.
